¡Bienvenidos! Welcome!
Soy Miss Goss, su maestra de español. I am Miss Goss, your English teacher
I have been teaching for over than 27 years. I taught for Guilford County Schools from 1994 to 1998, Thomasville City Schools (starting in 1998), Randolph Community College (beginning in 2013), and now for Davidson County Schools since 2018. I'm certified to teach Spanish (K-12), English as a Second Language (K-12), and ELA (9-12).
This semester I will be teaching eLearn Spanish 1 and eLearn Spanish 2, Spanish 1 (in-person), English IV (in-person), and Strategic Reading and Writing (in-person). My schedule this semester is as follows:
1st period: Planning
2nd period: English IV
3rd period: Strategic Reading & Writing
4th period: Español 1
On a personal note, I grew up in a rural county in the northeastern part of NC, Bertie County (you may have seen Bertie County peanuts at a Lowe's Foods). I moved to Greensboro to go to college at UNC-G where I majored in Spanish and minored in English. I stayed in Greensboro after graduation until moving to Randolph County where I've been living since 1998.
I enjoy traveling and I've been to Ecuador (a Spanish-speaking country) three times in my life, once as an exchange student, once as a tourist, and once as an interpreter for a church mission trip. In addition to being a Spanish teacher, I am also a language student. Not only did I study Spanish and English in college, I also studied Latin and German. The language I am currently learning is Romanian. Because of that, I've been to Romania twice to attend language school, once in 2014 and once in 2015. When I tell my students that I understand what it's like to learn a language, I mean it. I LOVE languages!
I've made it to half of the 50 US states in my lifetime. My goal is to visit all 50.
I am looking forward to a great semester!
